FIRST FORM TESTS VERY PROMISING

As a professional athlete, the situation is of course not easy for me. But I didn’t put my head in the sand, I kept fit. I think I’ve found a good balance between a demanding training and the composure necessary. In June I was able to test my form at an Olympic distance in a small triathlon and was very satisfied with the victory and my performance data!

At the beginning of July, I took part in a 34 k time trial and was able to confirm my good cycling form with a victory in the women’s classification. I am pleased that more challenges are now waiting for me in the coming weeks.

IRONMAN Virtual Professional Race

I will be one of four professional ladies to participate in the IRONMAN virtual race this week. I am proud and grateful that IRONMAN gave me the chance to present myself and my partners to the triathlon community and the public in this way. The distances are: 3km running – 40 km cycling – 10 km running.

We already had to complete the 3 km run this week, which had to be recorded and filmed. I did it in my hometown Wesel. Of course, I don’t reveal the result yet, but it was a personal best for me! ?

On Saturday, the main event will follow: a 40 km time trial on the virtual course of the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship course in Chattanooga. The film of the already completed 3 km run is shown in advance and then it counts on the bike! At this point, i would like to thank TACX once again for the top material for the virtual race, Gilles from CEEPO for technical support and Sebastian for professional filming!

After the bike race I will do another 10 km run. However, this no longer counts towards the race result.

Step by Step to the New Normal

Sadly, global infection rates are on all-time highs. I am very concerned about many people, for example in Brazil, India and Africa. The situation in Germany is much better than in other countries of the world. I appreciate that the local infection rates are currently at a level that is workable. That calms me down a bit, not primarily for my situation personally, but for people like my parents. Even if I probably couldn’t have helped in case of a disease, it was good that I cancelled my stay at Playitas on Fuerteventura prematurely and was at home when the pandemic hit Germany. Even though we live in a digitized world, it is reassuring to be physically close to the people we care most about. Now, in Germany and Europe, we are moving step by step towards a new normal, even if caution and distance are still required.

 The next Events

I am looking forward to some light at the end of the tunnel – of course only from my German athlete perspective. There are some events and confirmed races on my agenda:

14.07. – 24.07. Training camp Lake Garda

26.07. Triathlon Leipzig – Olympic Distance
